Appointments

You may see from the timetable when your doctor is available for consultation. You are able to book ahead and we also offer appointments on the day.

If you are unable to keep your appointment please let us know on 01822 612247 or email us at abbey.surgery@nhs.net.

We routinely offer 12 minute appointments. Please let the receptionist know if you need more time.

There are patient spaces in the car park, but please only use them if you are attending an appointment at the surgery.

Online Appointment Booking

As part of our commitment to increasing patient access to our services we have an established 24 hour online appointment booking system. This system allows online access to appointments for all our GPs.

However, all nurse appointments eg blood tests, blood pressure checks, diabetes reviews, will need to be made via the telephone.

After you have registered, this new system allows you to book, cancel or check appointments on the internet, whatever time or day.

Once you’ve booked an appointment online, you will receive confirmation immediately. There is no need to re-confirm by e-mail or telephone – just arrive promptly on the day!

Home Visits

We will visit you at home if you are too ill to come to the surgery. If a doctor is asked to visit, please try to ring the surgery between 9.00 am and 10.30 am and please give some indication of the nature of the problem. Please come to the surgery if possible as home visits are time consuming and it is easier to carry out investigations and treatments at the surgery.

Telephone Advice

Our doctors and nurses can offer advice on the telephone. Please be prepared to give some indication of your enquiry and leave a contact number where they can call you back.

Update Us on your Current Health Status

In order for us to better understand your current health status please complete the Health Questionnaire and return it to the Surgery. We would be pleased to receive this on a regular basis.

If you think you may have a broken bone or need stitches etc you should
go directly to the Casualty Department at Tavistock Hospital.
